Why Firi Celebrates and Supports Pride

As we speak, the country is being decorated with the colors of the rainbow, and Firi is proud to be celebrating Pride. One of the fundamental values of our company is diversity, so it’s particularly important forus at Firito actively show solidarity and stand up for LGBTIQ rights. Besides, we never say no to a party celebrating love!

Breaking with gender and sexuality norms shouldn’t be an obstacle to expressing your identity openly, without fear of discrimination, stigmatization and bullying. Pride is a celebration that can bring about huge and important changes in society. At the same time, it creates openness and the space to fully be yourself.

In Norway, we are creating more and more acceptance of diverse love, but we still have a long way to go. According to Amnesty, one in five Norwegian feels uncomfortable seeing gays or lesbians kissing and hugging. A research report from 2020 states thatyoung Norwegians are afraid of being queer, and that “gay” is often used as an insult to bully people. Many people experience hatred based on their gender expression or sexual orientation on a daily basis. These are the attitudes we must work to get rid of, and we do this by standing together in celebration of Pride. Meaning this is more than just a party, it’s also about politics.

When we look outside Norway, we can seescary developments in certain countrieswhere people who break with gender and sexuality norms are subject to discriminatory legislation. Homosexuality is criminalized in 69 countries around the world and can be punished with the death sentence in eight of those. This is an attack on people’s rights and democracy, while also leading to acts of violence and hatred. We cannot accept this, and we will show this by supporting Pride.

Pride in the workplace and in the cryptocurrency environment

In June, you will see Firi (formerly MiraiEx) wearing rainbow colors too. We are proud of our employees who create a colorful workplace, and it is precisely this diversity that makes us so good. Nevertheless, we must continue to work to create a safe workplace focused on values like diversity, solidarity, community and belonging. Here, we take our inspiration from Pride. Like all other companies, we have a responsibility to promote openness and inclusion in the workplace.

We also hope that making our position and our values more visible will contribute to increasing knowledge in society, and especially in the cryptocurrency community. This must be a safe and good environment for everyone. Remember that diversity flourishes out of mutual respect.
